Even if there is 'just' a chair on this shot it is really well composed. The top light adds a nice contrast to the overall piece, and one could imagine that the person who sat there felt lonely and helpless. The edge line of the light frames the chair along with the wooden chamber perfectly, and cuts through the photo at the same time. Very nice is the slight rotation to the right. It adds more dynamics to the stable shot. Did she leave through the door? Or was she kept prisoner in there? I gave three stars for originality because of this background. I find the poles leaning on the wooden wall really interesting, technically speaking it adds more stability to the shot, but what were they used for?
It just makes me curious about who sat there, what she was thinking, and where he/she left off to. What was he/she looking at while sitting there and suffering? Was there someone else involved? Did she want to be there, or was she forced to?
A shot of a chair that really made me think, and that when I say art works for me. Photographically well composed and able to catch the viewer. No need for a catchy sub/title.
I honestly have to say that the lighting along with certain points of this can tell the story by itself. The dripping on the side of the door, shows her suffering, and the dents on the chair itself definitely play a large part in the story. I see not just a story though, but a life being drained.
I truly enjoy this, and hoping that a wonderful photographer, like yourself will ignore the empty hearted comments that was spurred with a blinded eye. amazing job, it's as if you can see her, right there... but for some reason I do not see her sitting on the chair but with her head heavily laying on her crossed arms as she's looking away in agonizing humiliation and pain...
And may I say that my interpretations will most likely differ from all, but I must say on a final note; You did a fantastic job!

I watched a snail crawl along the edge of a straight razor. That's my dream. That's my nightmare. Crawling, slithering, along the edge of a straight... razor... and surviving.
Kill the beast! Cut his throat! Spill his blood!
i was about to suggest one of your french prostitute pictures for a DD, but i looked up first to see if you had gotten one recently. so i found this. masterful work. and your comments. the title. it's practically chilling.
Thanks, that means a lot to me that you would consider it DD worthy. The French series was fun to shoot. I'm glad you like "Not Where" it was certainly an interesting shoot, climbing around the basement of an old theatre. very chilling.
